WELCOME TO PILATES STUDIO POWERHOUSE POTSDAM
The first studio for classical Pilates on equipment in Potsdam
You will learn the original method created by Joseph Pilates (1883-1967), which he referred to as 'Contrology' or the 'Art of Control' during his lifetime.
The Powerhouse is the driving force in Pilates, it is made up of the muscles of the abdominals, hips, lower back and glutes. In every Pilates movement, it plays a central role in generating force and control.
Classical Pilates stands for authentic and demanding bodywork,
always challenging and encouraging the body as a whole.
In a session lasting about 50-55 minutes, your body experiences how "control in motion" mobilises your hidden strength and what benefits this holds for your daily tasks.
Your physical fitness, age and gender do not matter,
because Pilates is for EVERYONE!
Classical equipment training à la Pilates
As you may have noticed, our logo features a spring. This is because classical Pilates equipment training utilizes spring resistance. It is said that Joseph Pilates used spiral springs during his internment on the Isle of Man as a German prisoner in World War 1 to train his fellow prisoners and help them maintain their physical strength.
As legendary as the origin of the idea of using coil springs to train the body may be, one thing is certain: It works because springs require both tension and traction, and they come in different sizes and strengths. To reap the benefits of spring-based training, it's essential to tighten and release the springs with control.
Many may not be aware of the diverse range of equipment used in Pilates training. A look into the history of Pilates reveals that Joseph Pilates invented a variety of equipment to address the unique needs of his clients and to realize his vision of holistic body training. The abundance of Pilates equipment does not imply a sequential progression from one piece to another; instead, it underscores the importance of employing a wide array of exercises with different equipment for successful outcomes. This success can manifest as the alleviation of issues such as back or knee pain or as a means to enhance athletic performance. Both of these objectives can be achieved through the thoughtful and targeted use of Pilates equipment.
It may come as a surprise, but you can still do Pilates training even if you have injuries.
Of course, we recommend consulting with your physician beforehand!
Thus, you can maintain your body's efficiency even during a period of injury. A notable example of this is the numerous dancers on Broadway in New York who trained with Joseph Pilates when they were injured and were amazed at how quickly they regained their health and returned to the stage.
You will learn what Classical Pilates is all about from the very first training session.
The various pieces of equipment, both large and small, will be your constant companions from the beginning. During each session, you will perform exercises using equipment such as the Reformer, Wunda-Chair, Cadillac, Ladder Barrel, Foot Corrector or with Magic Circle, just as Joseph Pilates designed it. Practice with us, and we guarantee that your physical performance will continuously improve.
ONE THING IS CERTAIN: You will get stronger and more mobile!
You can be a National League soccer player or a typist in an office, a hobby runner or a craftsman,
everyone is welcome!
